Cami is still in disbelief when she leaves the EoV headquarters. She reads over her contract one last time before stuffing into her rather large purse. It was going to be a big surprise to everyone but she couldn't' say a word right now. Not even to Kuk... or Tommy as he liked to be called now... but she could never not call him Kuk.
She sees his text and smiles. Underneath all that hate... all that rage he was still the man she'd given herself to on that rainy day. When the struggle between who she liked more was finally broken. Then... his induction into AoA had ruined that and on the eve of their breakup, grief stricken, had been when "The Cat" had pounced.
Catarina.. her long lost twin that she hadn't even knew existed had show up, kidnapped her and assumed her identity. Fooling everyone into thinking she'd become some acidyne bitch. Luckily, Gabe had seen through it all. He'd had people spying on Cat and Trey. Found out where she was and rescued her. Him and Kristy. Afterwards though she hadn't had the heart to go back into a ring...at least not as a wrestler. She'd stayed with Gabe out of fear of being on her own but his sweet attempts at wanting to be more than friends was futile. She didn't care for him the same way he seemed to care for her.
So as to not be cruel, she'd left. She regretted the Dear John letter but she couldn't face him. not when he'd been her hero for so long.
She'd found a job through an agency and ironically it had led her to Kahlan Blaze. She had worked with her every day for 6 weeks. She'd asked 'Bliss' to let everyone know she was okay but that had been when the contact had ended. Kuk had texted her but she'd been afraid to respond. Afraid to interfere with him and his new family.
She started toward the park that Kuk and mentioned in his text.
After that she'd gone home. gone home to her adoptive mother and her large comforting warm arms. she'd spent weeks just doing contract positions and not even for what she had gone to school for until she had gotten that call from EoV. She had no idea how they had found her but they obviously didn't know that she had moved from Vegas back to Chicago.
She got lost. With a shake to her head she googled the address and used her GPS. She must look like a tourist.
It didn't take long to find it after that and see the man that she was still hopelessly in love with sitting there waiting. He was leaning forward, wearing a black shirt and looking anxiously around but still not spotting her. she stopped to admire him a few seconds. He looked different. Definitely thinner, not that it had mattered to her when he was bigger. she took a deep breath and approached him. he notices her before she's there and stands to meet her half way.
Tommy: So how did it go? Did you get a position with EoV?
Cami felt guilty about lying but it wouldn't be for long. In a few days time she could let everyone know what she was doing here.
Cami: They're going to get back to me. I think they really liked me.
Tommy: Damn straight they did.
he reaches for her hand. At first, it's a gentle nudge as if he's asking silently to hold her hand. Her first reaction is to pull her hand away but that other part of her, the part that was still the old Cami relented. She allowed him to take it and lead her back tot he bench where they sat.
Cami: A lot has happened in the last few months.
Tommy: I know. We have so much to talk about. But first off... I missed you.
She smiles at him.
Cami: I did too.

Cami opens the heavy drapes to reveal floor to ceiling windows looking down on the Philadelphian downtown core. She suddenly realizes why the drapes are so heavy, even at night it's bright enough to keep you awake.
There's a heavy thump behind her and she turns to see the men that were moving in her things set the last of her boxes down on the floor.
Delivery man: I believe that's the last of them Ms. James.
Cami: Oh...
Cami moves from the windows toward her purse where she pulls out a few bills and hands them to the man. The man smiles, thanks her and they leave, pulling the door behind them. She knows that although this apartment, fully furnished and paid for by EoV Board of directors, is her permanent address but she'd probably hardly be here when on the road. It didn't matter, it was the first real time she'd be living by herself.
When she'd moved out of Gabe's place she'd rented a room in an apartment shared by 3 other women...and when she'd gone home...she'd literally GONE HOME.
She sunk down into a the warm leather of an arm chair and the size of it enveloped her small frame.
She had no idea if she could do this, but she was going to give it the old college try. As for Kuk... she wanted it to work, but she was scared of having her heart broken again. She'd had to nurse it as best she could while chained to a bench in an abandoned wrestling school for nearly 6 weeks. She didn't know if she could handle getting heartbroken again, even if she was free.
She was still trying to get over it.
Her therapist had said it would take time.
Years even.
Kuk hadn't asked about it... yet... but she was sure it would come out and she knew that when it did... he would want to track down the people who had done those horrible things to her and kill them.
Cat was doing her time. Locked up for a year in jail, Cami actually had gone to visit her a few times while she was living at home. Cat seemed to be truly sorry for it. Of course... now that Baxter had moved on to other things. She would never trust her but part of her healing was confronting her.
Cami breaks from her daydream as a text comes through.
How's the new crib?
Cami smiles. Maybe this time would be different. Maybe HE was different.
