*Scene One*
Deep set violets, reds, and oranges tint the early morning sky as a cool crisp breeze flows through the air, my black boots click softly against the pavement as I walk from my car parked behind a rather big brick building as I glance around me slightly before pulling up the hood on my black hoodie. Letting out a soft breath it comes out in a white fog as my hands go into the front pocket feeling the soft fleece lining it, my dark blue jeans run down my legs providing little warmth to the cool air as I make my way to the closed double doors on the side of the building. Reaching into my pants pocket I pull out a single key as I reach out grasping the metal lock that’s strung through a thick chain as I unlock it with ease before undoing the chain and sticking them in the pocket of my hoodie momentarily, opening the door I step inside before quickly closing it behind me as I’m temporarily lost in a world of darkness.
Chelsea: I want to do this right…of course I do…ok, now to find that light switch.
A loud click thunders through the silence corridors as slowly, one by one lights begin to come to line throughout what is showing to be a long empty hallway. A million memories begin to floor my mind as I manage to sit the chain and lock on a small table next to the door before pressing my back against the wall as I stare down the hall letting my mind wander. As I watch I start to relive memories, a small laugh leaves my lips before I watch a scene unfold in front of me. Black leather boots click against the then white floor as they lead up to a bright green and black skirt, a tight tank top sits above them as black hair with deep green highlights sits in pig tails cascading down the back of what is my younger self. I walk with confidence as I can see the fear emitting with almost a glow from every person I pass as a man taller than I walks by my side giving off the same confidence, I can see it now that this was the first time the professional wrestling world made contact with the Mistress of Darkness.
MoD: What has happened to you Chels? Look at that girl compared to how you are now…what happened to you?
Chelsea: I don’t know…I guess I sort of grew up.
MoD: It’s not just that…you have been hiding a big part of who you are in EoV…I know you did it to make you stronger but even you know it’s hurting you more than anything.
Chelsea: I had to…I’ve seen what can happen to people in a blink of an eye.
MoD: Are you referring to Chase and Vi…
Chelsea: NO!
MoD: Excuse me…
Chelsea: Sorry…just please…don’t say her name, I still don’t feel at ease bringing them up…I know Chase is around here somewhere…I haven’t been safe since he showed up, hell since before he showed up.
MoD: You know you’re going to have to face him sooner or later.
Chelsea: And I choose later, I don’t blame him for being upset after what we did to them. I didn’t expect us to be on the same page, but I have someone who has the similar needs that I do…that is close enough for now.
MoD: Ok, fine…but moving on.
Chelsea: Not yet…let me just go by myself ok…I need to do this alone for a moment.
I feel a cold sigh running through my mind before a weight lifts off my shoulders as I’m staring back at the empty hallway in front of me, letting a subtle smile lay against my lips I start to walk down the hall before making it to what used to be our backstage interviewing area. Walking on through I walk up the metal steps before standing behind a black curtain as I allow my eyes to close, at that moment I can hear the arena coming to life as fans in attendance are chattering amongst themselves. My theme music sounds through the speakers as I run out onto the stage taking in the cheers of the crowd…but it begins to disappear, suddenly I’m standing on an empty stage as the only lights showing through the arena are the few that came on when I hit the switch backstage as I look at the empty seats feeling a rock fall in my stomach.
Chelsea: Never thought I’d be back here again…did you?
A warmth surrounds me as if the arena is welcoming me back as I smile walking down the ramp a ways before turning and looking at the stage seeing the words National Wrestling Association sparkling under the faint light, turning on my heels I walk down to the empty ring as I take my time climbing the steel steps before stepping through the ropes as I then sit in the middle of the ring.
Chelsea: It’s only been a matter of months…yet it already feels like an eternity since I last stepped foot into this ring, this place might not seem like much for all of you watching but to me…to me this was my home. I started my career here and until it closed…that’s where I’d stayed. So many things happened in this ring but they don’t mean much in a new federation…I won championships, made history…wrote my names in the books next to some of the biggest names in that company…yet what do they mean here?
I look around this arena…seats that used to be filled are now empty and with it part of me is empty. I remember how hard I used to fight in this very ring…all the scars I have on my body that came from facing the men there, but then I look and it floors me on just how quick all of that can be taken away from you.
Closing my eyes I can feel her awakening in my senses as my emerald green eyes glow softly, opening them I stare at the empty seats before taking a deep breath allowing her to come to life.
MoD: You’re showing weakness my dear.
Chelsea: I can’t help it…being back in this place it brought up a lot of memories…and when you mentioned Chase, it all just kind of dawned on me what could happen.
MoD: What do you mean?
Chelsea: Look at Chase…this guy is a two time World Heavyweight Champion, he was one of the strongest competitors you’d ever stand across from in the middle of the ring, he had a family to back him up and friends that gave him the strength he had, his name was known globally…it was rare that we saw anyone who hadn’t heard of Chase Michaels. This guy was one of the biggest names in that company, he was a force to be reckoned with and it was because of those close to him that he made it like that…and now, now look at him. He’s a loner, it’s like he doesn’t have anyone anymore, he hadn’t even talked to his girlfriend until I stepped in…yes I now regret it but deep down I’m confused to. When I did it I thought I was helping him, I thought talking to her would help him get back to how he used to be…but did it really help him?
MoD: Of course it helped him; I mean he came into this company didn’t he?
Chelsea: Yes, but at what cost? He wants my head on a platter which isn’t all that new but…he’d different. If a change that drastic can happen to him, that a guy that was that big can fall so low…what’s to say that I won’t go down that same path? What if I’m already going there…I’ve only won one match since I came here, I used to be a name that was feared but now…am I turning into a joke?
MoD: If you keep talking like that you be.
Chelsea: I’m being serious here…
MoD: So am I Chelsea, look around this arena…you were the last official reigning World Heavyweight Champion in this company, the first female World Champion…you made history in this place! Women wouldn’t have even been able to face men here had it not of been for you…and now you’re asking if you’re a joke because of a few stupid losses?
Chelsea: Have you not been listening to me? It’s not only the losses…I don’t want to end up like Chase! I can’t lose everything I have like he has…I wouldn’t be able to handle it.
MoD: If you stick with me you won’t have to worry about that.
Chelsea: What do you mean? I’ve been sticking with you, where has it gotten me?
MoD: You defeated Jason didn’t you? In your match…you got the win, right?
Chelsea: Yeah…
MoD: What about that therapist your fellow colleagues suggested you see…that felt good too when you finally got a grip, didn’t it?
Chelsea: Actually I don’t remember anything after her asking to see you…
MoD: Well take my word on it…and then last week, you fought for your life against two of the arguably toughest men in this company…yes you lost but does that mean you didn’t try...or that you’re a joke? Maybe you and Jason just didn’t mesh well as partners after everything that’s happened…just because you lose a match it doesn’t always mean it’s your fault.
Chelsea: I know, but what about this week?
MoD: What about it?
Chelsea: I face Tommy…do you know how long it’s been since I faced him? Do you remember what happened when I faced him last?
MoD: Ok, hold on…are you talking about Tommy or Kuk?
Chelsea: Kuk but…
MoD: Tommy himself said that Kuk is gone, so in reality Chels…you’ve never faced “Tommy”, in reality he has never defeated you…the history you had with Kuk shouldn’t be on your mind right now. You’re not going to get all sentimental with him like you did on Jason are you?
Chelsea: I don’t know…would it be so bad if I didn’t delete him from my mind?
MoD: Chelsea, listen to yourself…you’re going into a match with Tommy, not a date! The last thing you need to do is think about whatever the hell you two use to have! You’re thinking you’re a joke and you’re starting to act like one, since when does Chelsea Armstrong worry about boys over a simple match? This isn’t you!
Chelsea: I’m not worrying about boys! I was just thinking, that’s it….no harm done.
MoD: Wrong, you keep thinking like that and you won’t stand a chance in that match this week. Yes you heard me right, unless you get it together or you’re on your own…for Tommy and Chase.
Chelsea: No! Please, I can’t them by myself…
MoD: Then you better pull it together.
Chelsea: I will.
MoD: See to it that you do…or I promise Chase will be the least of your worries…I can kill you from the inside out sweetheart, and I’ll smile while I do it.
On that note I feel her floating away as I’m left in the empty arena, glancing at my cellphone as I pull it out of my pocket I see it’s time for me to head back home as I stand up walking out of the arena, as I reach the stop of the stage I give one last look around letting my mind take in everything that happened in this room before walking through the curtain and into the backstage area. I head toward the door as I glance at the small table seeing the chain and lock are gone from earlier, paranoia immediately starts flooding my mind as I look around the table in hopes that it just fell off even though I know it’s no use.
Chelsea: I knew I wasn’t here alone…
Suddenly I hear footsteps walking up behind me as the chain rattling reaches my ears, my hands immediately go to my throat as I know that’s where it’s going to go as everything comes to a halt causing me to see I’m going to have to turn around. Turning on my heels I back to the wall before letting out a scream as I stare into the cold eyes of Chase Michaels, he glances at me before looking at the chain in his hand as he simply smirks before throwing it at my feet. His look alone lets me know he could have taken me out right then and there, I look at the chain before glancing up as he’s already gone…looking into the darkness filling the hallways around me I can hear the faint sound of a Harleys engine echoing around me like a wolves howl as its stalks its prey making me feel uneasy.
Chelsea: Chase…this isn’t funny anymore!
The sounds continue as I turn ready to run out of the building as a message appears to be wrote on the wall behind me being illuminated by the faint light…”It is madness for sheep to talk peace with a wolf.” I shake my head reading the red words as I burst through the doors, blinded by the sunlight I run to my car ignoring everything around me as I get in locking the doors. Taking a deep breath the sound of the Harley reaches my ears causing me to quickly start the car before I put it in drive and race out of the parking lot heading back to the hotel to finish packing.
*Scene Two*
Glancing around the big airport I see people shattering about, but not as many people as usual for an airport of this size. Looking up a big sign sits proudly above me as I read “Heathrow Airport – Your journey starts here”, I want to smile but all I can do is yawn as I look at my cellphone seeing it’s nearly midnight over in the states but here the sun is already showing through the windows showing the clear signs of our time difference.
Chelsea: That was a seven hour flight? Are you kidding me…man I remember why I don’t like starting these tours.
Not thinking of being noticed this early I didn’t put my hoodie back on a scream echoing beside me makes me slightly wish I had done so, turning I look at a young girl who looks to be about sixteen as I immediately dismiss any regrets when she flashes me her excited smile.
Girl: Oh my god…you’re…you’re Chelsea Armstrong!
Chelsea: That’s m…
My sentence is stopped by a sudden yawn as I cover my mouth before laughing slightly as I look up at her.
Chelsea: Sorry, just got here and clearly not ready for the time change.
Girl: Don’t worry about it! I just can’t believe you’re right here! Would you mind taking a picture with me??
Chelsea: Not at all, let me put my stuff down.
Sitting my carry-on bag down on the ground the young girl quickly runs over to what appears to be one of her parents as she stands beside me, I can feel the nervousness emitting from her as I smile before wrapping my arm around her shoulder pulling her in close as we pose for the picture. In a count of three a bright flash goes off preserving her memory but leaving me seeing spots as she quickly thanks me for the chance before scurrying off through the airport telling everyone she passes what just happened.
Chelsea: Maybe this won’t be all that bad…
Picking my bag back up I grab the handle to my luggage as I start back off through the airport looking for my ride, as I near the exit I see a tall man standing off to the side with a board reading ‘Armstrong’ as I walk over giving a soft smile.
Driver: Are you Miss Armstrong?
Chelsea: That’s me.
I show him my passport to clarify as he thanks me before quickly taking my bags and leading me out into the early morning air before walking to a black car as my luggage goes into the trunk. Opening the door for me I get in as I get my first moment of relaxation since I boarded the flight as I hear his door closing, I can see him looking back at me as I smile showing my attempt of saying it’s fine to talk.
Chelsea: I know some people are rude to you but don’t worry about me, if you wanna ask a question or talk go for it.
Nodding he smiles before starting the car as we take off leaving the airport behind as I heave a soft sigh smiling.
Driver: Long flight Miss. Armstrong?
Chelsea: You can call me Chelsea, and oh yeah…seven hours on an airplane. No matter how many times I travel I will never get used to it.
Driver: I hear that a lot from people I drive over here, I guess it’s just something everyone has problems with.
Chelsea: That’s for sure, I tell you what…first thing after I get settled in I’m going to bed. I don’t care if it’s six am over here…to my body it’s still midnight.
Letting out a soft laugh I hear him join in as he nods in agreement, before long I’m woke up by the car coming to a halt as I look around.
Chelsea: Sorry, I didn’t notice I’d fell asleep.
Driver: It’s ok; it was about a three hour drive…I would have been surprised if you’d stayed awake. Anyway I hate to ruin your relaxation but we’re here.
Chelsea: It’s ok, less time till I get in bed…ok well back to bed.
Smiling he gets out of the car walking to the back as he starts unloading my bags as I open my door taking in the morning air before wrapping my jacket around me, leading me to the door he takes my bags inside before turning to leave as I stop him before giving him a tip which he replies with a bright smile and a nod before handing me a card.
Driver: When you get ready to leave let me know, I’ll gladly be at your service.
Chelsea: Thank you, I’ll be sure to do that.
Nodding again he walks outside leaving the hotel as I walk to the registration desk, getting a glance at the receptionist I take a breath seeing the perky smile on her lips as she happily looks up to me.
Receptionist: Hello, may I help you?
Chelsea: Chelsea Armstrong, I should have a room booked here.
A quick search through the computer shows just that as she hands me my room key before I leave on my way in an urgent rush to get to my room. Reaching my floor I find my room as I open the door before walking in to a cozy bedroom, already feeling at home I close the door behind me before setting my bags on the floor. My body wants to go to the bed now but I know I have to do something first as I dig my laptop out of my luggage before making my way to the small table across from the bed. Turning it on I go straight to the webcam option as I hit record before bringing up the EoV home page.
Chelsea: Hello boys and girls! It is I, Chelsea Armstrong…I am coming to you from the Premier Inn here in Blackpool England, I must admit I’ve seen nothing of this town considering I fell asleep on my trip here but I’ll get to all of that later this week…for now I want to focus on the reason I have been brought to England. Chaos two kicks off our European Tour as they have picked one amazing match to start it off on for me. This week I face the one and only Tommy Rowan…you all know the name and no doubt have become as confused as I when it comes to these name changes…but moving on.
Smiling I take off my jacket as the warm room fills my senses causing me to relax in the chair as I study my image on the screen.
Chelsea: Now I have faced his former identity of Kuk Killswitch more than once, we seemed to have a back and forth series of wins which ended when I lost my chance at grasping what was then the EAW World Heavyweight Championship. Now after that time it’s no secret that we had our fair share of flings, even a short lived relationship…but one again…that was with Killswitch, not Tommy, right?
Well this week he has challenged me in what has been labeled as a Street fight…and I assure you that there is no doubt this will be brutal but does he really know what he is getting himself into? Hear me out here; it’s no doubt that even though Michael James is the World Champ…that Tommy is the new leader now that Jason got out of that mess. So what will it say for the leader of this little stable when he’s left lying in a puddle of his own blood after I beat the hell out of him in this match? See, people can say what they want about me…but he knows well enough just how unpredictable I can be and he knows that this match is going to be anything but easy. I’m out for nothing but revenge, a win means nothing to me anymore…so do you think I’ll really stop at anything when it comes to this match?
Sending a laugh through the air I shake my head as I simply smile before looking deep into the camera allowing my eyes to glow bright under the faint light of the hotel room.
Chelsea: Tommy, you know me…you know nearly everything about me. What were your plans when you challenged me? Is Kareem going to storm in and help you win? Is Michael going to attack me before the match and leave you open for an easy win? I’m getting closer aren’t I; I mean…I know you can’t do anything on your own now that you have your little group behind you. So what is the true plan behind this match? I know I can’t be that tempting that you just had to get your hands on me one on one…or is there something I need to know? Listen carefully Tommy, they can do anything they want to me…hurt me, make me scream for mercy…I’ll still come back at the end and be the last one standing. You’re mine Tommy…I always knew you would be but you’ve just made it that much easier for my dreams to come true.
Now I’m going to climb into my comfy little bed and go on with my sweet dreams and nightmares…you never know, maybe you will make an appearance. But I promise that you better be prepared for this match and be ready to fight for your life, because if you do any less…this simply won’t be any fun for me. Goodnight my love…and sweet dreams, have them while you can…because you’re in for one hell of a nightmare.
Giving a small smirk to the camera I close the lid on my laptop sending everything into darkness as I know the video has begun its uploading to the EoV website, heaving a deep breath I place a do not disturb sign on the outside of the door before locking it tight and throwing off my top layer of clothing before getting under the covers of my bed. Within minutes I’m deep in sleep as nothing but serenity fills my mind taking me away from my reality.
