**Scene One**
A familiar voice comes through the air followed by a small laugh as suddenly the voice stops signaling it has been paused. The soft click of a computer mouse is followed by the voice once again as it is clear we are listening to that of the former Kuk Killswitch.
“There’s this little company I’m also in, it’s called EAW. There’s this girl, Chelsea Armstrong, she’s trying to do the same thing you’re doing. She’s trying to take my title basically, you’re not doing that I’m trying to take yours, but guess what? She, just like you, is lucky…lucky to get a pin over me. “
Chelsea: Funny isn’t it?
The voice on the video continues to play out as it becomes merely background noise as the camera zooms out showing a dressed down Chelsea Armstrong sitting at her computer desk in light grey sweatpants and a purple tank top as her black and red hair is pulled into a pony tail. The skin that is visible shows clear signs of the healing her body has been trying to do over the last week, since her match with Tommy Rowan.
Chelsea: Now many are going to ask the obvious question, Chelsea why are you watching old Killswitch videos…you’re not dealing with Killswitch anymore! Get with the program! Am I right? That’s at least close to what half of you were thinking, right? I know I’m right…but see you guys are actually right. I’m not dealing with Kuk anymore, no I’m dealing with a watered down version of what used to be one of the, if not THE, best hardcore wrestlers in our federation.
Closing her eyes she can already hear the boos practically screaming through the camera from the fans that are watching her right now, simply smiling she shakes her head before staring deep into the camera.
Chelsea: I will admit that Tommy gave me a run for my money last week, we nearly went to hell and back…yes nearly, but who was left standing at the end of the match? It wasn’t Rowan…it was me! But that isn’t the point I wanted to make here, not the point I wanted to make is so much simpler. See, all of you listening to me right now I bet at least three quarters of you saw that match and if I took a survey over those people I guarantee at least half of them will tell me what I already know. The man’s lost his touch.
Standing up the camera follows her as she stands in front of a wall that seems to be a memorial of sorts to her career to this day, pictures line the wall showing captured moments from every major match in her career. Standing by one she points to it as the camera zooms in showing Killswitch standing atop scaffolding as a broken Chelsea Armstrong lies bloodied in a barbed wire net.
Chelsea: Take this picture for example, yes I lost this match but just like every other picture…it is on this wall for a reason. That match was one of the last I competed in when we were all in EAW back on the G-Fed network, that match was one of my bloodiest…but one of my greatest. I have scars from that match that will stay with me forever, and you know what? I’m not afraid to show them, I’m not ashamed that they came from Killswitch, no I’m proud that I have them and even though I lost that was a match that showed people just how far we could push each other in a match.
I’ve been in this business for a mere three years…this month actually, but anyway I’m getting off topic. For the three years that I’ve been in this business I have more scars than some of these men around here do that have been doing this for ten or more! Do you know what that says? It doesn’t mean that I’m careless or that I will do what I can do find pain…no it means that I am willing to go to lengths for this industry that most won’t. I don’t care what happens to me in a match and once upon a time…Killswitch used to be like that too.
She mocks the looks of shocked faces she can only assume are being shown by her viewers before she laughs and nods her head, beginning to walk back over to the computer she sits down in the black chair as the camera soon adjusts back to normal.
Chelsea: I know! Shocking isn’t it! Kuk Killswitch used to be like that, you’re kidding! But I’m not, he used to be one of the most fearless people I knew in this industry, this place was his life…he’d do anything to entertain you guys. Now look at what he has become, simply a ghost of his former self in the body of Tommy Rowan. As much as he tries to disagree with that fact, it’s pretty obvious isn’t it? The man I stepped into the ring with last week wasn’t the same man…and sweetie, that’s not a good thing. Usually I’d be nervous about stepping into the ring with him, but when I looked into his eyes when we were standing in that ring…I knew something was wrong, something has been lost within him. He won’t admit it of course but like I said it’s obvious, he’s trying to hang around here by forming a cute little stable with his little buddies…he’s teamed up with the likes of Kareem! No offense but before would we have ever seen Killswitch working with Kareem? I think not. More than that he’s apparently now dating the General Manager? Who knows maybe he thinks if he gets with her she won’t see his washed up nature and send him packing, whatever the case he’s forming a comfy little safety net for himself and I’m afraid when the time comes that simply won’t be enough to catch him.
A subtle sigh leaves her lips as she shakes her head before smiling and leaning back in the chair, her bare feet come up resting on the desk as she stares at the ceiling of her room.
Chelsea: But this match this week isn’t only about me and Tommy, no two other men have been mixed into this and its two men that I am pretty familiar with. How about I start with my partner since this can be kept pretty short, this week I stand on that black apron with a man who I’m no stranger to…a man who has shared a shaky past with yours truly, and a man whom since the first day he stepped into this company…by my hand I might add…has sent me down a road of paranoia that I don’t see ending anytime soon. That man of course is Chase Michaels, now I’m sure all of my fans here are familiar with him as the should know about my history with him, but those of you who have just joined me in my EoV career are seeing a man who is simply a villain…I assure you all, he is so much more complex than that. There is no one word that you can use to describe someone like Chase Michaels, he’s just Chase and that’s all you can say. But this week as we are forced to team together I don’t see this working as smoothly as I’d hope…am I going to keep my back to him? Well no…but I believe we will still be able to make it through and come out with the win at the end.
Swinging her feet to the carpeted floor she stands once again as this time there is no smile on her face, shaking her hear the gears seem to be turning before a soft laugh radiates through the air.
Chelsea: The last man I come to is one I have been waiting to talk about. See, this man is someone whom I didn’t even know before we met in this federation…and I think that is why he sticks out to me as much as he does. Michael James…we have faced each other a fair amount of times already, but there is still a lot about one another that we do not know. Although that just adds to the fun, right? Michael is a man who some would say is simply, too cocky for his own good, he seems to think he’s the best in this company but then again he has the grandest championship here so who can blame him. Now when I first joined this company I was up against David Dreadful in a match for a contendership for that very title…sadly I did not win but at that moment I wasn’t worried about championships. But that has changed, I want to feel gold around my waist…and what better championship to go after than the one that everybody wants?
Moving back to the wall she was by earlier she starts looking over pictures again before coming to a spot that was hidden from view earlier, she now stands in front of a series of different championships as her fingers graze two that are singled out by themselves.
Chelsea: These are the only two World Championship belts I have ever won…one I held for merely a few weeks, the other I held for 125 days and then I only lost it because the company fell in the dust. I have won other titles yes, more than my fair share some would say…but nothing feels as sweet as having a World Championship wrapped around your waist as you feel as if you own the world. I know what Michael has…and I want it. This week I step into the ring with three men, two of which are my opponents…one is my partner, but all three are just as dangerous. I expect this to be a tough fight and I hope none of you disappoint…I’m ready for a fight, are you?
More laughter falls from her ruby lips as she continues to stare are her former championships before the camera fades to black leaving nothing but the sound of static to be heard.
**Scene Two**
Walking down a moderately empty hallway Chelsea Armstrong is seen as she pulls her black jacket around her shoulders as it’s clear the paranoia from past weeks is still there as she keeps glancing over her shoulder, moving further down the hall she comes to the interview room as she knocks three times before hearing a voice sound through.
Danny: It’s open.
Opening the door she walks in making sure it’s closed tight behind her before moving over and shaking Danny’s hand and sitting down on the cool black chair across from him.
Danny: Right on time, as always.
Chelsea: I try to be, and thanks for meeting me here…after the way our last interview went down I’d rather be safe in this room.
Danny: It’s no trouble at all Chelsea; trust me you aren’t the only one who got shaken up after that incident.
He gives her a reassuring smile before adjusting the notebook sitting in front of him as the cameraman finishes setting up his equipment.
Danny: Ready?
Chelsea: Whenever you are.
He gives the cameraman a nod as the small red light shows they have started recording, a big smile spreads over his lips causing Chelsea to hide a laugh.
Danny: Good morning everyone out there watching on EoV.com, this fine morning I’m joined by none other than Chelsea Armstrong. Thanks for joining me again Chelsea.
Chelsea: Thanks for having me, just like always.
Danny: So, last week we saw you manage to win a brutal street fight against Tommy Rowan. One that the Blackpool fans loved. What was running through your head when you threw him off the boardwalk?
Chelsea: Honestly I don’t think it fully registered what I was doing at the moment, as I’m sure my face showed after the fact. The further we got into that match the more things started to just become a blur, I knew I had to end it and I guess some part of my subconscious saw that as a good way to do just that. I’ll admit I was pretty horrified when I saw him lying on the ground like that after it all happened.
Danny: So, it's almost to the point where you "snapped" inside; didn't realize the gravity of the situation until it had happened?
Chelsea: Exactly, I mean like I said I was looking for an ending and it was about the moment I heard him hit the ground that it broke me out of whatever daze I was in. I could hear him crash to the ground and all I could do was stare through the railing…I wasn’t sure what to do but no one else was making a big deal about it so of course I went on with my celebrating.
Danny: it appears that there wasn't any major injury from it, as Tommy appeared at the end of the show, only to seemingly turn his back on Michael James. Do you believe that sense of friction is a sign that you've embedded yourself inside of their heads; made them turn against themselves?
Chelsea: I’d be lying if I said it was only me, but yes I believe that people are getting into their heads here. AS soon as Jason left I knew things were going to fall quick, I mean the guy might not be doing too hot here lately but he’s a powerful wrestler and then losing him was a pretty big hit whether or not they want to admit it. Their little fall out last week is only the tip of the iceberg and I’ll tell you what I want a ringside seat when it really starts falling apart.
Danny: That could happen as soon as this week, seeing as you and Chase Michaels are due to be competing against Tommy and Michael in tag team action. Now, I know the past between you and Chase isn't the best, but do you think it'll get in the way of you both being a cohesive unit inside of the ring?
Chelsea: I hope not but you can never be certain, you know? I mean of course both of us want to win the matches we come into, the only hope I have is that Chase is still ticked off from Tommy going after him when he debuted that night…I wouldn’t put it past Chase to lay me out as soon as that bell rings, not with how things have been going. I just have to stay positive though and hope we can work together long enough to get through this…I can’t ask for any more than that.
Danny: When you've got that many combustible elements inside of the ring at any given time, you never know what the result will end up being. All I know is that it makes for a hotbed of action, with everything and anything able to happen. You've been in wars with all three men, so you'd know how to deal with them, for the most part. Does it make it any easier than if you didn't know what to expect from any of them?
Chelsea: Yes and no…see it’s a big advantage that I know the three men in that ring but there’s also a disadvantage because that means they know me just as well. Chase and I we know each other better than most people in this federation, that’s a good attribute to have in a partner but as you mentioned with our part and current situation that might not matter. Tommy is one of the men here who know me ability in the ring better than most; we’ve faced each other so many times in so many different matches that we have a way of anticipating each other…a big advantage and disadvantage. Michael…that’s complicated, we’ve faced each other a lot here but there’s still a lot about one another that we don’t know yet so that will be interesting.
Danny: That is true. What has changed in your demeanor in recent times, considering the circumstances your find yourself in? You've always had that "edge" to you, but it's almost like you’re seriously at wits end. The edge of your sanity, if you will.
Chelsea: A lot has contributed to this; it’s tough to point it down to just one cause of the change really. Although it does seem to come and go, I’ve found it depends what situation I’ve put in or who I’m around…if that makes sense. I can hold onto my sanity to a point…but after that a part of me chooses to just let it go and see what happens, so far that has meant basically losing my mind.
Danny: Sometimes, it's beneficial in order to allow everything to just escape. To let yourself be what you're designed to be.
Chelsea: I couldn’t of said it better myself.
Danny: Is there any truth to the reports that we've heard about you possibly reverting back into your "alter-ego" the Mistress of Darkness? Or is that just a part of the "self-therapy" you appear to be doing?
Chelsea: Well…I’ll just say this on the matter, stranger things have happened. Nothing is set in stone on what will or will not happen, just keep your eyes open and watch…besides no one likes spoilers.
Danny: Ah, all right then. One last question before we go: was there anything that you would like to say to the EOV fans? Anything you wanted to state to your opponents and even your teammate this week?
Chelsea: Simple, this week I’m not looking for an easy win. I’m looking for a fight and I expect just that, so boys you better be ready. As for my fans, as always I appreciate the support and love I get from you guys, I wouldn’t be where I am without you.
Just as Danny goes to wrap things up the sound of Mz Hyde by Halestorm blasts through the room as Chelsea jumps slightly before reaching into her pocket as she checks the caller I.D.
Chelsea: Sorry I have to take this.
Standing up she starts to walk out of the room with the phone in hand as Danny and cameraman finish up before. Closing the door behind her Chelsea stands in an empty hall as she moves away from the door before answering.
Chelsea: hello?
*Inaudible*
Chelsea: You’re fine; I was just finishing up an interview. Anyway…did you get my message?
*Inaudible*
Chelsea: I’m glad to hear that, I’m really interested in making this work. No one would expect it…besides with all the paranoia lately, I don’t think anyone knows quite what to expect from me.
*Inaudible*
Chelsea: Yeah, that’s true. Well get back to me when you hear anything or think of any other ideas, but remember this stays with us. No one else can know if we want this to work, ok?
*inaudible*
Chelsea: Good, I’ll talk to you soon.
The phone call ends as Chelsea quickly places the phone back in her pocket before walking down the hallway and out into the bright sunlight leaving the remnants of her conversation to echo within the building.
